Dholera SIR is the dream project of the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, envisioned to transform India's urban landscape with world-class infrastructure and sustainable development.

Backed by both the Central and Gujarat Governments, Dholera SIR enjoys full government support, developed under the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor with international-standard planning.

With an estimated investment of $12 billion, Dholera SIR is set to be India's largest and most advanced infrastructure project.

The Complete Timeline

2006

DMIC Introduced

The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor concept is introduced, laying the policy foundation for what would become Dholera SIR.

2008

SIR Act Introduced

Gujarat introduces the Special Investment Region Act, creating the legal framework for a mega industrial and urban region.

2009

SIR Act Passed

The SIR Act is formally passed, officially paving the way for Dholera's development as a Special Investment Region.

2010

Mapping Begins

AECOM, a leading U.S.-based architecture and planning firm, is engaged to carry out detailed mapping work for Dholera.

2012

920 Sq. Km Mapped

AECOM submits its comprehensive development map covering 920 sq. km of the Dholera Special Investment Region.

2013

Town Planning Begins

DSIR is divided into 6 Town Planning schemes, with a 422 sq. km development plan set in motion.

2014

Environmental Clearance

The project receives its Environmental Clearance, unlocking the path for large-scale construction.

2015

DICDL Formed

Dholera Industrial City Development Ltd is formed as a Special Purpose Vehicle — 51% State, 49% Central government.

2016

ABCD Building Tendered

Tenders are floated for TP2-A infrastructure and the landmark ABCD Admin Building.

2017

72 Km Roads Awarded

A contract is awarded to develop TP2-A — including 72 km of internal roads and the Admin Building.

2018

Utilities Awarded

Contracts for the Sewage Treatment Plant, Water Treatment Plant, and Effluent Treatment Plant are awarded.

2019

Solar Tender

Out of a planned 5,000 MW renewable capacity, the first 300 MW solar power tender is allotted.

2020

Power Distribution

Torrent Power is awarded the contract for power distribution across the Dholera Special Investment Region.

2021

Expressway Tendered

The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway tender is allotted, marking a major step for regional connectivity.

2022

Airport Tendered

IACL is awarded the tender to develop the Dholera International Airport.

2023

Renew Power Begins

Renew Power begins establishing its manufacturing facility within the Special Investment Region.

2024

Tata Semiconductor

Foundation work begins on the Tata Semiconductor plant — a landmark investment for India's chip ambitions.

2025

Infrastructure Milestones

A year of accelerating infrastructure delivery and rising investment interest.

2026

Expressway Opens

The Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway is inaugurated, unlocking the region's next growth phase.
